Dreamland is a direct conversation between the two words: house and home and what they mean to an immigrant or refugee.
Dreamland is centered around the works of Black, Indigenous and POC artists and residents in Mississauga to conceptualize the use of public spaces that propose associations between the immigrant or refugee in a western world. The title explores the accepted notions of living in the West and what characterizes the immigrant or refugee experience by exploring the theme of identity and whether it can be embraced rather than displaced. Dreamland illustrates new ways to understand the passage of one space to another, the move from a home to a house both in public and private, while learning stories of trauma and transformation. Dreamland asks you is it possible to exist in two places at one time?
